why ‘Set Free?’

Well, first we were : Stacy Sullivan Photography

Then we were Stacy Marie Photography (big change!  hey, it rhymed!)

And finally, Set Free Photography came to me.  In the shower.  I had been praying about a name for my business for a while…I wanted something that was meaningful and a true reflection of who I am.  And who I am is found in Christ.  And He has Set Me Free!  I had been reading a fantastic book at the time, called “Breaking Free” by Beth Moore.  It revolutionized my life, and my faith.  Being set free to be just me…to be comfortable in my skin…this was a big deal.

But the biggest deal was when Brandon and I had our hearts broken after becoming aware of human trafficking.  Modern day slavery was something we were appalled by and we knew that we had to do something to stop it, especially the child sex-trade part of it.

So, our mission is the set them free.  The captives.

Found in Isaiah 61:1 …our mission:

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners

How are we living this out?
We are actively involved in a local NGO, called SAFE (shelter & after care for the exploited).  SAFE provides long term shelter and rehabilitation for victims of human trafficking…yes, there are victims in our county.

Through SAFE, we are working on a high school curriculum, to spread awareness to the targeted age of 12-17 year olds.  Our hope is to prevent human trafficking through education.
